Toto Awards for Photography 2022: Call for Applications

CALL FOR ENTRIES


TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS (TFA), in association with the Art & Photography Foundation, invites entries for its 2022 TOTO Awards for Photography from applicants between the ages of 18 and 29. Two winners, to be decided by an independent panel of jurors, will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each. Entries should reach TFA by 15 September 2021 at the latest. 


Only Indian citizens resident in India are eligible to apply (Overseas Citizen of India cardholders are not eligible.)  Since the spirit of the award is to identify promising young photographers, you can apply if your birthday falls between 1 January 1992 and 1 January 2004. No exceptions will be made. Applications submitted by galleries or agencies on behalf of the photographer will not be accepted. Photographers themselves need to apply.


1.     The submission should comprise still images, in either colour or black-and-white, 

        or a mix of the two. Moving images and video art will not be accepted.

  

2. The images should be screen resolution–72dpi and 1500 pixels on the long side–and each file should be less than 1MB. 


3. The set of images submitted should form a series that is presented together on the same theme and edited in the same style. You may submit one or two different series, but each series must comprise a maximum of 16 images and a minimum of 8.  Please do not send a random assortment of images.


4. The photographs should be sent in jpg, jpeg or png format only.


5. The photographs submitted MUST NOT carry your name or watermark.


6. The submission should be sent in two parts: fill out an online application form and email your images separately to photography.tfa@gmail.com, with the subject line reading Entry for Photography Awards 2022 - <Insert your full name>.

Unless you have won a TOTO Photography Award earlier, you are eligible to apply again, but please submit new work for consideration.


The Fine Print: The decision of the jury will be final and cannot be contested in any forum. We reserve the right to use your submitted photographs (if necessary) to promote the Awards either on our or the Art & Photography Foundation website or in any of our in-house/related materials. Barring this, the copyright rests with the applicants and the submissions will be put to no other use without their express permission. 


Successful applicants must mention "TOTO Awards for Photography, in association with the Art & Photography Foundation" wherever their winning entries are exhibited or published for a period of two years from when the 2022 TOTO Award winners are announced.


The Art & Photography Foundation is dedicated to furthering the awareness, education and conservation of Indian art and to preserving and promoting Indian cultural heritage by connecting the arts to the community.


TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS (TFA) is a not-for-profit public trust set up in memory of Angirus ‘Toto’ Vellani, who was intensely passionate about music, literature and films. TFA encourages and supports emerging talent in the arts in India.

The shortlist for these awards, selected by a three-member jury, will be announced in January 2021, and the winners in the following month. The two winners will each receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000. TFA congratulated the long-listed photographers and wishes them all the best.

TOTO-TASVEER Awards for Photography 2019: Call for Applications

TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS (TFA), in association with TASVEER, invites applications for its 2019 TOTO-TASVEER Awards for Photography from persons between the ages of 18 and 29. To mark the fifteenth year of the TOTO Awards, the cash prize for each of the two winners has been increased to Rs 50,000. The winners will be decided by an independent panel of jurors. Entries should reach TFA by 20 August 2018 at the latest.

Only Indian citizens resident in India are eligible to apply. (Overseas Citizen of India card-holders are not eligible.) And since the spirit of the award is to identify promising young photographers, you can apply if you were born on or after 1 January 1989. No exceptions will be made.

  1. The submission should comprise still images, in either colour or black-and-white, or a mix of the two. Video photography will not be accepted.
  2. The images should be of a size between a minimum of 0.5 MB and a maximum of 1 MB each.
  3. The images should form a series with a theme. You may submit one or two series of photographs, but each series must comprise a maximum of 16 images, and a minimum of 8. Please do not send a random assortment of images.
  4. The photographs should be sent in .jpg format only.
  5. The submission should be sent by email to photography.tfa@gmail.com, with the subject line reading ‘Entry for Photography Awards 2019’. The submission must be accompanied by an application form completed and signed by the applicant. The application form is available here. The application form can also be requested by writing to the above-mentioned email address.

Unless you have won this TOTO Award earlier, you are eligible to apply again, but please submit new work for consideration.
