Toto Funds the Arts (TFA) invites submissions for the 2015 TOTO Awards for young musicians/bands, writers, photographers
and short-film makers. This will be TFA’s eleventh annual awards.
There are eight awards to be won this
year — one for music (Rs 60,000), two for photography (Rs 25,000 each), two for creative writing in English (Rs 30,000 each), one for creative writing in Kannada
(Rs 30,000), and two for short films (Rs 30,000 each). The photography awards are being made in
partnership with TASVEER, an organisation committed to showcasing
the finest in photography, and the short films awards has been set up to honour
the memory of Dr Sanat Kumar Ghosh,
a medical practitioner who was deeply interested in the arts.
Toto Funds the Arts was founded in 2004, in memory of Angirus ‘Toto’ Vellani who was intensely passionate
about music, literature, films and the arts. Toto’s untimely demise spurred his
family and friends to create a non-profit foundation that would encourage the
young to give expression to their artistic ideas. The annual Toto awards are
intended to recognise excellence various artistic fields.
The deadline for
submissions is 21 October 2014 . Young persons from all over India between the ages of 18 and 29 are eligible to apply.
