MUSIC - CALL FOR ENTRIES

TOTO MUSIC AWARD 2013

CALL FOR ENTRIES

TOTO FUNDS THE ARTS (TFA) invites entries for the ninth annual Toto Music Award for young budding musicians and bands. The winner, to be decided by an eminent panel, will receive a cash award of Rs 50,000. Entries should reach TFA by 30 September 2012.  There will be no extension of this deadline.

TFA is looking for entries in contemporary music from all parts of India (bands or individuals). The list of genres in which you can apply extends from rock, jazz, heavy metal and electronic, to instrumental and folk. The award is open to music in any language but submissions should be 100% original.

Only Indian nationals resident in India are eligible for the award. You can apply if you (and band members if any) were born on or after 1 January 1983. No exceptions will be made. Also, since the spirit of the award is to identify and encourage young talent, do not apply if you are already well established in the field or if your music has received a commercial contract.

Over the past eight years, the TFA music award has grown as a concept and has become an event that all young musicians look forward to. It's an opportunity to see where you stand among the best upcoming musicians in the country, and to get your music heard and judged by young music writers as well as veterans in the field. A set of finalists will be selected from all the entries by a panel of knowledgeable music writers. An eminent jury appointed by TFA will pick a winner from the set of finalists. Entries will be judged based both on your music and on your potential as an artist/band. Professional recording quality is not a requirement but applicants are encouraged to make their tracks sound as good as possible.
